Mauro Molino Barbera d'Alba from Piedmont is a vibrant, expressive red that captures the essence of this much-loved grape in the hands of a meticulous, family-run estate. Based in La Morra, the Molino family has earned a strong reputation for Barolo, but their Barbera wines offer stunning quality and drinkability in a more approachable style.
Made from estate vineyards on the rolling hills of Langhe, this Barbera is fermented in stainless steel and then aged briefly in French oak barrels to bring polish and roundness without overshadowing the fruit. It pours a deep ruby with a purple rim and bursts with aromas of wild cherries, violets, raspberry compote, and a touch of sweet spice. The palate is silky, fresh and medium-bodied with the hallmark bright acidity of Barbera, a perfect counterbalance to its generous red fruit core.
Mauro Molino’s Barbera d'Alba is all about purity and finesse. It's delicious young but has the structure to improve over the next 3 to 5 years. Pair it with grilled sausages, eggplant parmigiana, or a rustic mushroom risotto.
