A medium ruby color, the 2022 Barolo Albe marks the 50th vintage of this cuvée. Aromas of fresh cherries, spice, and ripe orange peel lead into a medium-bodied palate with purity and polish. Already quite appealing, this is a wine I would happily order by the glass, and it should drink beautifully over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2036.

The Vajra family have become one of the Langhe's most respected names, with Aldo Vajra and his children crafting Barolo that beautifully balances tradition, elegance and innovation. Farming some of the highest vineyards in the appellation, the family are celebrated for wines of purity, finesse and remarkable transparency, allowing each site to express its own unique personality.

Barolo Albe is one of the estate's signature wines, named after the three morning sunrises that illuminate its high altitude vineyards. Sourced from carefully selected parcels across Fossati, Coste di Vergne and La Volta, the blend captures the perfume, freshness and structure that have made G.D. Vajra a benchmark producer of modern classic Barolo.

The colour is a brilliant garnet red with youthful ruby highlights. Aromas of rose petals, red cherry and wild strawberry mingle with orange peel, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is beautifully refined, layering vibrant red fruits over silky tannins and bright acidity. Hints of tar, dried herbs and crushed stone emerge with time in the glass, leading to a long, savoury finish that combines elegance with impressive depth.

A magnificent partner for white truffle risotto, braised beef cheeks, duck ragù with pappardelle or porcini mushroom dishes. Enjoy with a generous decant today or cellar confidently through the 2040s as the wine develops even greater complexity.
