Rocche Costamagna has been part of the fabric of La Morra since 1841, with generations of the Costamagna family crafting wines from some of Piedmont's most prized hillsides. Today the estate combines traditional winemaking with a gentle touch in the cellar, allowing the character of the Langhe and its noble varieties to shine through.
While Barolo may be La Morra's calling card, Barbera has long been the grape locals reach for at the dinner table. Sourced from vineyards surrounding the estate, this Barbera d'Alba captures the variety's trademark generosity and freshness while reflecting the elegance that defines wines from this famous commune.
The colour is a deep ruby purple with vibrant youthful hues. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry and plum rise from the glass alongside notes of violet, sweet spice and a touch of liquorice. The palate is juicy and energetic, layering dark berry fruit over silky tannins and lively acidity. Hints of cocoa and dried herbs emerge on the finish, which remains supple, savoury and wonderfully moreish.
A brilliant partner for slow cooked beef ragù, wood fired pizza with fennel salami, mushroom pappardelle or grilled eggplant with parmesan and basil. Enjoy over the next five to seven years while its vibrant fruit and freshness are at their peak.
