50% whole bunch vinification and 60% new wood. A deep purple centre. Here the fruit expresses itself a little more than the blended Nuits, with plums and raspberries mingling together. The wine is more assured across the palate with fruit and oak interweaving nicely. An attractive little tingle to finish. Drink from 2030-2036.

Gérard Julien Aux Saints-Juliens Nuits-Saint-Georges is a beautifully composed Pinot Noir from a lesser-known but quietly impressive lieu-dit on the southern side of the village. The Julien family, long established in Comblanchien just nearby, brings precision and authenticity to this cuvée, with Etienne Julien now leading the charge toward a more terroir-reflective, organic style of winemaking.
Aux Saints-Juliens is a village-level site but borders several Premier Cru parcels, and in the hands of a thoughtful grower like Julien, it punches above its classification. The vineyard’s clay-limestone soils and sunny exposure produce ripe, expressive fruit, while the cooler southern location retains freshness and structure.
In the glass, it shows aromas of red cherry, raspberry, violets and subtle earthy spice. The palate is supple and layered, with silky tannins, juicy red fruit and a touch of dried herbs and mineral tension that adds lift and finesse. There’s both charm and seriousness here — it’s a wine that offers immediate pleasure but also rewards a bit of patience.
Pair it with duck and lentils, porcini risotto, or a classic coq au vin. This wine will drink beautifully over the next 5 to 8 years.
