Robust, earthy and sinewy Pommard-clone Pinot with cellaring potential
Made from 100% Pommard clone (d4v5) and matured in French puncheons (40% new). A light, bright garnet. The earthiest and most closed of Helen's Hill's impressive range of pinots submitted this year. With its ripe yet sinewy profile, it's more open on the palate than the bouquet suggests, finishing with robust 'Pommard-like' tannins. A wine built to last that will become softer and more secondary over the next six to eight years, if not longer. Drink to 2035.
95+ points Philip Rich for Halliday Wine Companion, January 2026
Helen’s Hill has been a co-venture of the McIntosh and Nalder families since 1997, and is named after Helen Fraser, the former owner of the property located in the Coldstream area of Yarra Valley. All wines are made on-site from estate-grown fruit and guided to bottles by long-time winemaker Scott McCarthy. The total area planted to vines today is 40 hectares, with focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
