Get out the decanter, because you are going to need it. This youngster is tight as a drum. Slowly, slowly it reveals nebbiolo's aromatics – rosehip, hibiscus, anise, red liquorice – alongside dark cherry and cedary notes. It's a high-alcohol wine at 15%, but the grape's noteworthy acidity and sturdy tannins are up to the challenge working in tune with the warm flow of red fruits, spice and captivating florals. Finishes with a lick of lip-smacking earthy astringency. Should age a real treat.

Dark ruby red in the glass. Cherry, cola and crushed violet aromatics. Palate is full with a ripe black fruit note that is bound with motor oil savoury and eucalypt undertones. Good length and prodigious tannins framing it. A big wine that needs time 25 AUG 2023 Drink 2026–2038

Light, cherry red colour lures you into thinking a light wine to follow, but what a surprise! Apart from cherry, flavours of raspberry, red-currant and aniseed hints lead on to an extremely elegant palate that immediately hits you with the desirable Nebbiolo characteristic of mouth puckering tannin, particularly after swallowing. Lovely clean acid finish to match.
