A tempting nose of earth, raspberry compote and baking spices leads to a buoyant and smooth core. It has an almost velvety texture. Pockets of savoury flavours emerge (kelp and salted licorice) which temper the spiced red fruits. Jericho Bracken Vineyard Grenache from McLaren Vale is bright, fragrant, and seriously stylish—exactly what new-wave Australian Grenache should be. Sourced from a dry-grown, low-yielding vineyard in the Seaview subregion, this single-site wine is all about energy, perfume, and effortless drinkability, without losing depth or complexity.
Winemaker Kim Jericho lets the vineyard lead the way. Fruit is hand-picked, wild fermented with a portion of whole bunches for lift and spice, and aged in older French oak to keep the focus on the purity of the fruit. No heavy extraction, no flashy oak—just beautiful Grenache, thoughtfully made.
On the nose, expect a burst of wild raspberry, red cherry, crushed rose petals and soft spice, with hints of thyme and earth. The palate is juicy, medium-bodied and lithe, with silky tannins, crunchy acidity, and a savoury thread that keeps things fresh. There’s texture and flow, but also restraint and refinement.
It’s a brilliant match for charred lamb skewers, roasted beetroot salad, mushroom tacos, or a simple plate of jamón and olives. Serve it slightly chilled and let it shine.
