Jericho GSM from McLaren Vale is a smooth, juicy red blend that hits all the right notes without trying too hard. Winemaker Kim Jericho brings his signature minimal-intervention approach to this classic Southern Rhône trio—Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre—giving it a fresh, modern Aussie spin while staying true to the region’s rich, sun-soaked personality.
Fruit is sourced from dry-grown vineyards in the Vale, where old vines and ancient soils do most of the heavy lifting. Grenache takes the lead, bringing bright red fruit and aromatic lift, Shiraz fills in the mid-palate with dark berries and plush texture, while Mourvèdre adds structure, spice and a little earthy depth. Each variety is fermented separately before blending and aging in older oak, keeping things vibrant and fruit-forward.
The nose is loaded with raspberry, plum and cherry, layered with hints of clove, dried herbs and a gentle savoury edge. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and silky with fine tannins, lively acidity and a generous burst of red and black fruits. There’s a nice line of spice and a whisper of oak that adds polish without overcomplicating things.
It’s built for food—think grilled lamb, charcuterie, roast veggies, smoky eggplant or anything slow-cooked. Equally, it’s the kind of red you can crack open midweek with a mate and a pizza. Fun, friendly and quietly smart.
