Youthful and bright in the glass. Complex aromas of grilled nuts, just-ripe white peach, grapefruit, nougat and citrus blossom. The flavours are mouth-filling, layered and deliver weight and texture. There's plenty of stone fruit, citrus and creamy, nutty oak and the acidity delivers lovely cut and shape. Long and multi-faceted 10 MAR 2024 Drink 2024–2034

Kooyong Estate Chardonnay comprises fruit from the Faultline and Farrago blocks. It offers an overall expression of the Kooyong vineyard, with parcels of fruit from various soils and mesoclimates blended together to create the Estate label.
Year after year the same parcels are consistently chosen, giving this wine an underlying likeness across vintages. The grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed directly into French oak barriques (15% of which were new) where fermentation occurred spontaneously with ambient yeasts.
Following fermentation the wine was aged on lees (without battonage) for 11 months. It was bottled without fining and with minimal filtration.
The vibrant and intriguing nose offers fresh grapefruit citrus that merges to white pear with a hint of peel, together with struck flint, creamy nougat and a complexing note of dried spice. The palate is poised and driven, displaying bright lemon and grapefruit citrus flavours entwined with a creamy lees texture from barrel fermentation. The acid line is fine and long providing vibrancy and freshness through the palate with a talc-like grip.
