I love the way Katie Priscilla (KP) Kerrigan is keeping her dad – renowned winemaker Michael Kerrigan – on his toes. So this is delicious. Yes, cloudy and straw-like with complex aromas and flavours with umami galore. Lots of good fizz and super dry and refreshing, the acidity is almost too much of a good thing, so do have an antipasto platter at hand. This is like lemonade for grownups. Love it. I bet you’re proud as punch, Mr Kerrigan. Drink By 2024

KP Naturally Pétillant Naturel Riesling from Margaret River is a zesty and wild sparkling wine that captures all the bright energy of Riesling in its most unfiltered, untamed form. Made by Keiran Parker with a low-intervention mindset, this pét-nat is fun, raw, and refreshingly vibrant—perfect for those who like their bubbles a little edgy and full of personality.
The fruit is picked early to retain crisp natural acidity, then pressed gently and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Before fermentation finishes, the wine is bottled to trap natural carbon dioxide, creating gentle effervescence without the use of added sugar or secondary fermentation. It’s cloudy, unfiltered, and alive, with every bottle carrying a bit of its own unique character.
In the glass, it pours hazy pale gold with aromas of lime zest, green apple, ginger, and fresh herbs. The palate is dry and super fresh, with zingy citrus, soft bubbles, and a savoury edge that makes it incredibly moreish. There’s a fine bead, a little grip, and plenty of acid drive that keeps everything zippy and thirst-quenching.
Best served chilled and with a crown seal pop, this pét-nat is a natural fit for sunny afternoons, beach picnics, fried snacks, or just easygoing good times.
