Majella Merlot from Coonawarra is proof that Merlot can be both plush and serious when it’s grown in the right place and treated with care. While the region is best known for Cabernet, this Merlot holds its own—with depth, generosity, and just enough structure to keep things grounded.

The fruit comes from Majella’s estate vineyards on Coonawarra’s famous terra rossa soils, which give the wine richness and vibrancy without losing balance. Winemaker Bruce Gregory uses small-batch fermentation and ages the wine in a mix of French and American oak, bringing texture and gentle spice to the lush fruit core.

You’ll find classic Merlot notes of ripe plum and red cherry upfront, but there’s more going on under the surface—think soft tobacco, mocha, vanilla and a flick of dried herbs. It’s medium to full-bodied with silky tannins and a long, juicy finish that makes it dangerously easy to drink.
