15 grams residual
From a prized parcel on the limestone slopes of Vouvray, Domaine Pichot Le Marigny captures the purity and quiet depth that make Loire Valley Chenin Blanc so compelling. The Pichot family has worked these vineyards for generations, crafting wines that balance fruit, acidity and mineral tension with a light touch in the cellar. Le Marigny typically leans toward a dry to off dry expression, shaped by tuffeau soils and the Loire’s temperate climate, giving both freshness and gentle breadth.
A pale straw gold with green reflections shimmers in the glass. Aromas unfold with ripe pear, quince and lemon zest layered with white flowers, chamomile and a subtle honeyed note. There is a soft generosity here, held in check by a cool mineral lift.
The palate is finely textured and beautifully balanced, delivering orchard fruit and citrus flavours framed by lively acidity and a delicate touch of residual sweetness. Notes of apple skin, almond and wet stone build through the mid palate, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish that feels both supple and precise. Drinking beautifully now, this Vouvray will continue to evolve over eight to twelve years, developing beeswax, toast and savoury complexity.
Roast pork with apple and fennel, spiced pumpkin with yoghurt and herbs, or a flaky onion and goat’s cheese tart set down in the middle of the table. A spin of Erik Satie Gymnopédies or something equally understated and reflective, the wine settling into that same gentle rhythm, unhurried, balanced and quietly absorbing.
