Very detailed sousbois/undergrowth, fivespice and pot-pourri, aromas, a combination of the more ethereal nuances with deeper richer fruit touches. Tremendous intensity, concentration with elegance, and formidable palate length. Impressive structure with a peacock's tail finish. A wine of exemplary finesse, line and length. 19 Aug 2024 Drink 2024–2037

From one of the most celebrated vineyard sites on the Mornington Peninsula, the Trahere Pinot Noir from Ten Minutes by Tractor captures the elegance and depth that cool maritime vineyards can produce. Ten Minutes by Tractor was established in the late 1990s by three families who owned neighbouring vineyards in the region, each roughly ten minutes apart by tractor. Today the winery is regarded as one of the Peninsula’s benchmark producers, with winemaker Martin Spedding focusing on single vineyard wines that express the individuality of each site. The Trahere vineyard sits on elevated slopes in Main Ridge where cool breezes, clay rich soils and careful vineyard management allow Pinot Noir to ripen slowly while building complexity.

The wine shows a bright ruby red colour with fine clarity. Aromas open with red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry layered with rose petal, subtle spice and delicate forest floor notes. As the wine evolves in the glass hints of dried herbs, tea leaf and gentle earthiness begin to emerge. The palate is elegant and finely structured with silky tannins supporting flavours of red berries, cranberry and savoury spice across a graceful frame.

Fresh acidity provides energy and balance, leading to a long refined finish that highlights the purity of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir. The wine will continue to develop complexity over the next ten to fifteen years and suits dishes such as roast duck, grilled quail or herb roasted poultry.
