Bright, light yellow colour; intriguing gas-pipe note on the nose, slightly reductive, showing more as a flinty character than rank sulfide. There are attractive Eden Valley regional dried-floral/boronia-like aromas there too. It has good intensity and refinement in the mouth, the balance is bone-dry and it's cleansing on the finish. The aftertaste brings back memories of mandarin, lemon and again various dried-flower nuances. Struck-flint, bath-salts mineral notes and a long, long carry. An excellent young riesling.

The Tim Smith Riesling from Eden Valley is a pristine example of cool-climate winemaking, showcasing the vibrant acidity and citrus-driven purity that define this varietal in one of Australia’s premier Riesling regions. Crafted with precision and minimal intervention, this wine reflects both the unique terroir of Eden Valley and Tim Smith's commitment to quality.
On the nose, the wine bursts with aromas of freshly squeezed lime, lemon zest, and green apple, complemented by delicate floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom. Subtle hints of wet stone and a faint minerality add depth to the bouquet.
The palate is lively and refreshing, with zesty citrus flavors at the forefront, supported by nuances of white peach and a crisp green apple crunch. The wine's hallmark is its racy acidity, which provides balance and vibrancy, leading to a long, clean, and precise finish with lingering minerality.
Tim Smith's winemaking approach emphasizes preserving the fruit's natural characteristics. Grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites in Eden Valley, known for their cooler climate and ideal conditions for Riesling. Fermentation at cool temperatures enhances the wine’s aromatic intensity and clarity, resulting in a wine of exceptional elegance and finesse.
This Riesling is a versatile food companion, pairing beautifully with fresh seafood such as oysters, prawns, or ceviche. It also complements light Asian dishes like Thai green curry or Vietnamese rice paper rolls. Enjoyable in its youthful vibrancy, the wine has the potential to age gracefully for 8–12 years, developing complex toasty and honeyed notes over time.
