Rioja and Tempranillo are a match made in Spanish heaven, and the Torres family's Altos Ibéricos Crianza is a delicious example of why. Established in 1870, Familia Torres expanded into Rioja with vineyards around Labastida in Rioja Alavesa, where limestone and clay soils produce beautifully fragrant reds. The wine takes its name from the Iberian Mountains and celebrates the region's traditional approach to oak ageing.
Bright ruby red with garnet reflections. Juicy cherry, ripe plum and blackberry mingle with vanilla, cinnamon and a hint of tobacco. The warm 2022 vintage delivers generous fruit, supple tannins and refreshing acidity, with gentle oak spice and a savoury finish. Approachable, characterful and wonderfully versatile at the table.
Try it with smoky chorizo and butter bean stew, grilled lamb skewers with paprika, or roasted peppers stuffed with rice, herbs and Manchego. Perfect for a relaxed tapas evening.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2030. Deliciously approachable, with enough structure for a few more years in the cellar.
