A little Rioja history, a generous splash of Tempranillo and some beautifully judged oak make this a particularly appealing Spanish red. The Torres family has been making wine since 1870, establishing its Rioja winery in Labastida, Rioja Alavesa, to explore one of Spain's most celebrated regions. Named after the Iberian Mountains, Altos Ibéricos Reserva reflects the family's respect for traditional Rioja craftsmanship.
Deep ruby red with garnet highlights. Ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry mingle with vanilla, cedar, tobacco and sweet spice. The 2020 vintage has a lovely balance of generous fruit, polished tannins and refreshing acidity, with oak maturation adding notes of toasted almond and a lingering savoury finish.
Delicious with slow cooked lamb and smoked paprika, crispy pork belly with quince, or roasted eggplant with tomato, chickpeas and Manchego. A terrific choice for a leisurely Spanish inspired dinner.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2033. Already approachable, with the structure to develop further savoury complexity.
