From the breathtakingly steep slopes of Graacher Himmelreich in the Mosel, the Schaefer family crafts Rieslings that seem to capture light itself. This tiny, revered estate has been guided for decades by Willi Schaefer and is now in the hands of his son Christoph, whose meticulous vineyard work and gentle cellar approach preserve the purity and nuance of each site. Himmelreich, meaning kingdom of heaven, lives up to its name with blue Devonian slate soils and a cool river influenced climate that produce wines of perfume, delicacy and remarkable ageing potential.
