A blend of 60/40% marsanne/roussanne, picked three days apart, fermented together in tank, then aged in old barrels for 10 months. A bright green gold. Aromas of ripe pears and apricots sit alongside some lemon conserve, pink grapefruit and orange blossom scents. It's a compelling mix that flows through onto the palate, which is gently textured, saline, and very well structured. I really like the touch of the grip on the finish too, and as good as this is now, this will age gracefully over the next five to seven years at least.

Yeringberg Marsanne Roussanne is a rare and fascinating white blend from one of the Yarra Valley’s most historic producers. The de Pury family has been farming Yeringberg since 1863, making them custodians of one of Victoria’s true vinous treasures. Winemaker Sandra de Pury continues this legacy with a style that is both respectful of tradition and modern in its precision.

The vineyard’s gravelly soils and elevated position in the Yarra Valley give both Marsanne and Roussanne the chance to ripen slowly, developing texture and spice while maintaining freshness. The wine typically shows honeysuckle, pear, and stone fruit alongside almond blossom and subtle beeswax. Marsanne lends weight and richness, while Roussanne provides aromatic lift and an almost herbal, savoury edge. As it ages, the blend takes on more complexity, developing layers of honey, toasted nuts, and lanolin.

On the palate it is medium-bodied with a silky texture, gentle acidity, and a savoury finish that lingers. It is a style that echoes the Rhône Valley yet has its own Yarra clarity and elegance. Cellaring for 8 to 12 years will reward patience, as the wine evolves into something truly profound.

Perfect food pairings include roast chicken with preserved lemon, grilled snapper with fennel, or a mushroom and hazelnut tart. Its mix of richness and savoury restraint makes it a versatile table wine.
