A lush and ripe wine with pristine black cherries, pressed violets, subtle black pepper and licorice on the nose. Medium-bodied with brilliant acidity, velvety tannins and a bony finish. Well balanced. Drink or hold.

93 points Aldo Fiordelli for James Suckling

For more than six centuries, the Antinori family has stood at the forefront of Italian winemaking, with an unbroken history dating back to 1385. Their name has become synonymous with quality, innovation and an unwavering respect for Tuscany's great vineyards. Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is a classic expression of this remarkable heritage, combining the elegance of Sangiovese with the refinement and longevity that have made Antinori one of the world's most admired wine families.

Sourced from carefully selected vineyards throughout the Chianti Classico zone, the 2023 vintage benefited from excellent growing conditions, producing fruit of outstanding balance, freshness and concentration. Predominantly Sangiovese, the wine is matured in French and Hungarian oak, adding subtle complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit and the distinctive character of Tuscany's historic heartland.

The colour is a deep ruby red with youthful garnet hues. Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and plum are complemented by violet, cedar, tobacco leaf and fragrant baking spices. The palate is beautifully structured, combining vibrant red and dark fruits with silky tannins and bright natural acidity. Layers of liquorice, earthy herbs, graphite and subtle oak unfold through a long, savoury finish that reflects the pedigree and elegance of Chianti Classico.

A superb companion to bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow cooked lamb shoulder, pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, rosemary roasted pork or mature Pecorino Toscano. Delicious from release after a short decant, it has the balance and structure to evolve gracefully over the next twelve to fifteen years.
