This comes mostly from Puligny and a bit below Chassagne. Pale colour, almost nutty on the nose. More classic on the palate with flesh and excellent tension. This is a wine with a lot more to offer when it grows up. Drink from 2026-2029.

Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Blanc from Burgundy is a beautifully pure and finely textured Chardonnay that perfectly captures the precision and quiet elegance for which the Bachelet brothers are renowned. Marc and Alexandre Bachelet have quickly established themselves among Burgundy’s most talented young vignerons, producing wines that balance energy, texture and transparency. Their Bourgogne Blanc offers a superb introduction to their style — refined, mineral and unmistakably Burgundian.

The grapes are sourced from several estate vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, primarily around Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. These chalk and limestone soils provide both richness and drive, yielding fruit of great purity. The hand picked grapes are whole bunch pressed, fermented with native yeasts, and matured in French oak barrels, around 20 percent new. Ageing on fine lees for about a year adds texture and gentle creaminess without masking the wine’s freshness or detail.

In the glass it shows pale gold with green reflections. The aroma is lifted and precise, offering white peach, pear and lemon zest with hints of almond, nougat and chalk. On the palate it is elegant and balanced, combining ripe citrus and stone fruit with subtle oak spice and a long, mineral finish. There’s a tension and refinement that elevate it well above the expectations of a regional-level Burgundy, delivering real depth and character.

Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Blanc pairs beautifully with grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta or soft cheeses. It also complements shellfish or dishes featuring herbs and lemon. Drink it now for its freshness and vitality, or cellar for up to eight years to gain roundness and subtle nutty richness.
