Pretty aromas of red plums, strawberries and rose hips follow through to a fruity and medium-bodied palate with fine tannins. From organically grown grapes. Delicious now.
90 points James Suckling
Ca di Bruno has built a reputation for producing authentic Piedmontese wines that capture the charm and accessibility of the Langhe while remaining firmly rooted in tradition. Working with fruit from carefully selected vineyards across the region, the winery focuses on purity of fruit and classic regional character rather than heavy handed winemaking.
Langhe Nebbiolo offers a wonderful introduction to Piedmont's noble grape, delivering much of the perfume and structure of Barolo in a more approachable and youthful style. The rolling hills, calcareous soils and cool autumn nights of the Langhe provide the ideal conditions for Nebbiolo to develop its trademark aromatics and elegance.
The colour is a bright ruby red with garnet hues beginning to emerge at the rim. Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petals lift from the glass alongside orange peel, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is vibrant and finely structured, layering juicy red fruits over silky tannins and fresh acidity. Hints of dried herbs and earthy complexity emerge with air, while the finish remains savoury, fragrant and unmistakably Nebbiolo.
A superb companion for mushroom risotto, duck ragù with pappardelle, roast pork with fennel or grilled eggplant with parmesan and basil. Delicious in its youth while possessing enough structure to evolve gracefully over the next five to seven years.
