Pinot noir from jurassic dolerite and basalt soils in the foothills of the Meehan Ranges; some whole bunch. Mid-ruby with aromas of red cherry, red plum and a touch of boysenberry and darker-toned fruit. A deeper array of spice here, a little more oak noticeable along with crushed volcanic rocks, charcuterie, pressed flowers, pomegranate and earth. Weightier and sporting more concentration than the estate wine, tannins toothsome and flavour long.

Clarence House Reserve Pinot Noir is a striking Tasmanian red that captures the finesse and energy of the Coal River Valley. Perched just outside Hobart, Clarence House Estate has become a quiet achiever in the region, with its north-facing slopes and ancient soils offering ideal conditions for cool-climate Pinot Noir. The Reserve label represents a selection of the finest barrels, showcasing both vineyard expression and ageing potential.
Winemaker Anna Pooley, working closely with viticulturist Justin Bubb, crafts this wine with gentle precision. The fruit is handpicked, partially whole bunch fermented for lift and structure, and matured in fine French oak. The result is a Pinot of real clarity and drive.
It opens with notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, forest floor and subtle spice. The palate is sleek and finely tuned, with ripe but restrained fruit, beautifully woven tannins and a long, savoury finish with layers of florals and mineral detail. There's a quiet confidence to this wine that speaks of place, patience and serious intent.
Pair it with duck breast, game bird terrine, roast mushrooms or chargrilled quail. While it’s drinking beautifully now, this Reserve Pinot will reward cellaring for up to 10 years.
