Piquepoul is known for its retention of acidity in the hot Mediterranean climate of southern France, and it brings that quality to McLaren Vale, where the Lloyd family regards it as a favourite variety. Its acidity is coupled with a lemony flavour in this iteration.

So much crunch and brine, with green apple, lemon zest and some floral top notes. It’s very stony and dry, but delivers a good amount of flavour, and the finish has some raw almond and grapefruity bite. Delightful thirst slaking wine.

Despite a relatively low alcohol of just under 12 per cent, there’s good ripe fruit in here – pulpy fresh green grapes – and a touch of creamy richness before the variety’s trademark, oyster-loving acidity kicks in. Try with freshly shucked Sydney Rocks.

The nose is spritely and fresh showing fresh lemon, cypress and white nectarine.
The palate is fine and long with fresh acidity providing drive and texture, flavours of citrus blossom, jasmine flower and wet stone leaving the palate craving seafood, natural oysters especially!
A light, bright white with layers of lemon, white flowers, sherbet, rose water and a hint of sea spray. The palate is exciting and fresh greeting you with vibrant acid; preserved lemon, lime zest, crisp nashi pear and green apple ensue.
