Coming off five sites, and seven clones, this was raised in older oak for 11 months. Referential to Tuscan origins, but its local identity firmly rooted, this is a thoroughly engaging expression, classically redolent of red cherries, woody herbs, dried flowers and a grounded, dry-toned earthiness. Spice notes, too. The varietal tannin and acid union tension the palate, with fruit contained, wound in, but not quashed. It’s approachable and fragrant, speaking of the cool year, but that immediate appeal is paired with layered detail, too.

The nose is bright and pronounced showing an alluring mix of red cherry and floral rose, along with sweet thyme flower lift. The palate is medium bodied with great depth of flavour showing more cherry, raspberry and mixed spice. Fine but firm tannin give the palate great persistence and drive.
