Founded by Hamish and Kate Laurie, Deviation Road is renowned for its focus on high-altitude vineyards, producing wines with purity, finesse, and complexity. This Pinot Noir is sourced from select parcels in the Adelaide Hills, where the combination of cool nights, long ripening periods, and well-drained soils enhances both aromatic intensity and structural elegance.
In the glass, the wine displays a bright ruby hue with a slight translucency. The nose is vibrant and lifted, offering aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry, layered with subtle floral notes of violet and dried rose petal. Hints of forest floor, spice, and a touch of French oak add further depth. The palate is silky and finely structured, with juicy red fruit flavors balanced by fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a delicate mineral edge. A long, elegant finish leaves lingering notes of dried herbs and subtle spice.
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto. Its bright acidity and fine tannins also make it an excellent match for charcuterie, truffle-infused dishes, and mild, creamy cheeses. While drinking beautifully now, it has the potential to develop further complexity over the next 5–8 years.
