Domaine de Marcoux La Lorentine Lirac brings cherry, raspberry and spice with silky tannins and authentic Rhône character.
Although Domaine de Marcoux is best known for its legendary Châteauneuf du Pape, the Armenier family bring the same biodynamic philosophy and meticulous attention to detail to La Lorentine. Sourced from vineyards in neighbouring Lirac, this wine captures the generosity of the Southern Rhône while offering outstanding value and unmistakable regional character.
La Lorentine is crafted predominantly from Grenache, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre grown on the stony, clay and limestone soils of Lirac. Warm Mediterranean days and cooling mistral winds allow the fruit to ripen beautifully while retaining freshness and aromatic lift, producing a wine that is generous, savoury and beautifully balanced.
The colour is a deep ruby crimson with youthful purple highlights. Aromas of black cherry, raspberry and ripe plum are layered with wild thyme, lavender, cracked pepper and licorice. The palate is supple and vibrant, weaving juicy red and dark berry fruit through silky tannins and lively acidity. Hints of garrigue, warm spice and earthy complexity linger across a long, harmonious finish.
A delicious partner for rosemary roasted lamb, Provençal chicken, duck with olives, grilled vegetables or mushroom and olive ragù. Enjoy over the next six to eight years while its generous fruit and savoury Rhône character remain beautifully in balance.
