Here is an easy-drinking Nebbiolo made in stainless steel only. The Domenico Clerico 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo Capisme-e is tangy and spicy with dried raspberry, tart cherry and white pepper. There are hints of dried ginger and licorice at the back. This was a difficult vintage because of heat and humidity, and the results are leaner in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 18,000 bottles.

Domenico Clerico Capisme-e Nebbiolo is a bright, expressive red from Piedmont that offers a more approachable and fruit-driven take on the region’s noble grape. “Capisme-e” is local dialect for “Do you understand me?”—a playful nod from Domenico Clerico to the clarity and charm he believed this wine should convey.

Sourced from younger Nebbiolo vines in Barolo’s surrounding hills, this wine is crafted to showcase purity of fruit and varietal character without the weight and structure of Barolo. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve freshness, followed by a short period in used oak barrels to add gentle texture.

In the glass, Capisme-e brims with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, lifted by notes of violet, rosehip and subtle spice. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a touch of earthy minerality that keeps it grounded in its Piedmontese roots.
