The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is a delight. Deep, layered and dynamic, the 2023 is terrific. It possesses notable character and tons of style. Crushed flowers, bright red berry fruit, mint and a kick of orange peel all run through this finely-cut, chiseled Langhe Nebbiolo from Cigliuti. These wines are surely deserving of a broader audience. Drink 2024-2029

Cigliuti Langhe Nebbiolo is a beautifully expressive and finely structured red that offers a glimpse into the estate’s Barbaresco pedigree with a softer frame and earlier approachability. Made from younger vines within the family’s prized vineyards in Neive, this wine showcases Nebbiolo’s signature aromatics and finesse, but with a gentler tannic structure, making it an ideal introduction to the variety or a mid-week drinker for the serious Piedmont fan.
Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, followed by ageing in large Slavonian oak casks for around 12 months. The result is a wine that respects tradition while offering immediate pleasure — a classic Langhe Nebbiolo with Cigliuti’s signature purity and polish.
The nose opens with fragrant rose petal, sour cherry, wild strawberry and a touch of anise and earth. On the palate, it’s medium bodied with bright acidity, red berry fruit, hints of orange peel and fine, powdery tannins. It’s precise, elegant, and finishes with a savoury lift that invites another sip.
Food pairing: perfect with mushroom risotto, grilled pork, veal schnitzel, truffle pasta or aged cheeses. Also excellent with roasted poultry or lentil and herb stew.
Cellar potential: delicious young with a short decant, but will develop further over 5 to 7 years, gaining savoury nuance and mellowed tannins.
