Aux Beaux Bruns sits on the southern edge of Chambolle Musigny, just brushing up against Morey Saint Denis, and it often shows a little more depth and structure while still carrying that unmistakable Chambolle finesse. Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825 and now led by Erwan Faiveley, has evolved into one of Burgundy’s most respected houses, with a strong focus on estate holdings and a move toward greater elegance and precision over the past two decades.

The vineyard itself is planted on limestone rich soils with a touch more clay, giving both perfume and substance. The wine opens with a beautifully layered aromatic profile, red cherry and wild strawberry at the core, with darker hints of plum. Rose petal and violet bring lift, while subtle notes of spice, forest floor and a faint earthy nuance add complexity.

On the palate it is silky yet structured, medium bodied with fine, persistent tannins that give the wine shape without taking away from its grace. The fruit is pure and detailed, carried by a line of fresh acidity that keeps everything poised. Flavours move from bright red berries into more savoury territory, finishing long with spice, mineral and a gentle earthy note that lingers.

Winemaking at Faiveley is meticulous, combining traditional methods with modern precision, careful extraction and well judged oak building texture and depth while allowing the vineyard to remain front and centre. The result is a wine that feels both polished and expressive, showing the intersection of power and elegance that defines this part of Chambolle.

This is a natural partner for refined dishes. Duck, quail or roast chicken all work beautifully, and it also pairs well with mushroom based dishes where the wine’s earthy notes can echo the plate.

It will reward time in the cellar. Eight to fifteen years will see it evolve into something more complex and savoury, with notes of dried rose, spice and forest floor emerging as the structure softens.
