Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's great historic estates, founded in Nuits Saint Georges in 1825 and now guided by the seventh generation of the family. With holdings across many of the Côte d'Or's most celebrated vineyards, Faiveley has earned a reputation for producing wines that combine power, precision and an unwavering sense of place. Their Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is sourced from a collection of mature vine parcels, offering a compelling introduction to one of Burgundy's most revered villages.

Gevrey Chambertin sits at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits and is often regarded as the king of Burgundy's red wine villages. The old vines used for this cuvée draw deeply from the limestone and clay soils, producing fruit with greater concentration and complexity. The 2023 vintage captures the appellation's hallmark combination of structure, perfume and depth, while Faiveley's careful use of oak enhances the wine's texture without obscuring its terroir.

Deep ruby red in colour, the bouquet is immediately captivating with aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and redcurrant layered with violet, rose petal and subtle spice. As the wine opens, notes of forest floor, cedar, truffle and gentle earthiness emerge, adding complexity and intrigue. The palate is beautifully balanced, delivering vibrant red and dark berry fruits supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity. There is both power and elegance here, with the wine unfolding across a long, savoury finish marked by spice, mineral notes and lingering cherry fruit.

This is a classic partner for duck breast, roast quail, beef bourguignon, mushroom pithivier or a truffle infused pasta dish.
