2023 Faiveley Montagny Blanc, Burgundy

Montagny is the southernmost white wine appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise and has long been admired for producing Chardonnay of freshness, finesse and exceptional value. Its limestone rich slopes and cool climate create wines that balance generous fruit with lively acidity and a distinctive mineral edge. Maison Joseph Faiveley, founded in 1825, has spent seven generations crafting Burgundies that faithfully reflect the individuality of each village and vineyard.

The 2023 vintage delivered beautifully balanced Chardonnay, with excellent ripeness tempered by bright natural acidity. Fruit from carefully selected vineyards was gently handled and matured in French oak, adding subtle texture and complexity while preserving the purity and energy that define Montagny.

Pale straw with brilliant green highlights, the bouquet opens with aromas of lemon zest, white peach and crisp nectarine layered with white flowers, toasted hazelnut and delicate flinty notes. As the wine evolves, hints of brioche and wet stone emerge, bringing added complexity. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, combining citrus and orchard fruit flavours with creamy lees character, refreshing acidity and a chalky mineral backbone. The finish is long, clean and beautifully balanced, lingering with citrus, roasted nuts and saline freshness.
