Feudi di San Gregorio Fiano di Avellino DOCG is a beautifully textured, aromatic white from the volcanic hills of Campania in southern Italy. This is a flagship expression of Fiano, one of Italy’s most ancient and noble white varieties, grown on hillside vineyards in Avellino at elevations between 400 and 700 metres. Thanks to the altitude and mineral-rich soils of Irpinia, the wine offers both richness and precision, showing off its character through restrained fruit, subtle complexity and structure.
Hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, the wine is then aged on lees for a few months to add weight and a creamy, nutty undertone. The result is a white that balances natural texture with clarity, showcasing the varietal’s smoky, savoury edge and long, mineral finish.
In the glass, it opens with aromas of pear, white peach, almond skin, wild herbs and a flicker of flint. The palate is medium bodied and quietly complex, with notes of citrus, hazelnut, fennel and crushed stone. The wine has fine acidity and a clean, dry finish that lingers with saline and spice.
Food pairing: ideal with grilled swordfish, seafood risotto, roasted chicken with lemon and rosemary, or buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad. It also works beautifully with grilled vegetables or soft cheeses.
Cellar potential: delicious now but will age well for 5 to 8 years, gaining honeyed and savoury depth while retaining freshness.
