Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Auslese offers apricot, citrus and slate driven Mosel richness with finesse and longevity.
At once rich and vibrant, this is extremely refreshing. Wonderful white peach, yellow apple and spring blossom aromas. Dangerously energetic on the elegant, medium-bodied palate. So clean and bright in the long, straight finish. Drink or hold.
95 points James Suckling
Brauneberger Juffer is one of Germany's great Riesling vineyards, a dramatic south facing slope of blue Devonian slate overlooking the Mosel River. The site is renowned for producing wines that combine richness and concentration with exceptional freshness and mineral drive. The 2023 vintage provided ideal conditions for the production of Auslese, allowing perfectly ripe bunches to be selected while preserving the vineyard's hallmark balance and purity.
Bright gold in colour, the bouquet is intensely aromatic, revealing layers of apricot, white peach and ripe nectarine intertwined with lime blossom, mandarin and crushed slate. As the wine evolves in the glass, notes of honeycomb, jasmine and exotic citrus emerge, adding further complexity. The palate is luscious yet beautifully poised, delivering concentrated stone fruit flavours balanced by vibrant acidity and a striking mineral backbone. The sweetness is seamlessly integrated, creating a wine that feels rich, precise and weightless all at once. The finish is exceptionally long, unfolding with waves of citrus, honey and slate driven minerality.
This is a magnificent partner for foie gras, blue cheese, roast duck with orange glaze, spicy Asian seafood dishes or fruit based desserts. Equally captivating on its own, it offers the extraordinary balance and ageing potential that make great Mosel Auslese one of the world's most treasured wine styles.
