Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese offers peach, citrus and slate driven Mosel elegance with remarkable depth
The floral finesse and the minerally power of this great Mosel Spatlese are complemented by a wonderful Amalfi lemon and lime zest freshness that lights up the sky. The grape sweetness is so beautifully interwoven in all this. Extremely long and filigreed finish. Drink or hold.

Fritz Haag is one of the Mosel's most iconic estates, with a history dating back to 1605 and a reputation built on producing some of Germany's finest Rieslings. Under the stewardship of Oliver Haag, the winery continues the legacy established by his father Wilhelm Haag, crafting wines that beautifully express the character of the Mosel's greatest vineyard sites. Few names are more closely associated with elegance, purity and longevity in German wine.
Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr is one of the Mosel's most celebrated vineyards, a steep amphitheatre of blue Devonian slate overlooking the river. The site is renowned for producing Rieslings of extraordinary finesse and complexity, combining intense fruit flavours with remarkable mineral precision. The 2023 vintage delivered beautifully balanced fruit, allowing the vineyard's distinctive personality to shine through in classic Spätlese style.
Pale gold with brilliant green highlights, the bouquet is intensely aromatic, revealing white peach, apricot and ripe nectarine alongside notes of lime blossom, mandarin and crushed slate. As the wine opens, hints of jasmine, honeycomb and citrus zest emerge, adding further complexity. The palate is rich yet weightless, delivering layers of stone fruit, lime and green apple balanced by vibrant acidity. A gentle sweetness is perfectly integrated, while the vineyard's hallmark minerality drives a long, precise finish filled with citrus, honey and wet slate.
This is a magnificent partner for lobster with citrus butter, spicy Thai seafood dishes, roast duck with orange glaze, pork belly or a creamy blue cheese. Equally rewarding on its own, it captures the magical balance of sweetness, acidity and minerality that makes great Mosel Spätlese so irresistible.
