Born in the Langhe hills that made the Gaja name legendary, this blend is a modern snapshot of Piedmont seen through one of Italy’s most influential producers. Sito Moresco was created as a wine that bridges tradition and innovation, combining international polish with unmistakable regional character. The vineyards sit on limestone and clay soils around Barbaresco and Treiso, where elevation and exposure preserve freshness while allowing full phenolic ripeness. Gaja’s philosophy has always been about precision, vineyard expression and longevity, and even in a more approachable bottling like this, the discipline is evident.

The blend typically centres on Nebbiolo supported by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a wine that carries Piedmont’s perfume and structure while offering immediate generosity. Winemaking is meticulous, with careful fermentation and ageing designed to build harmony rather than dominance. The result is a red that feels cosmopolitan yet rooted, polished yet distinctly Langhe in spirit.

In the glass it shows a deep ruby with garnet reflections. Aromas are layered and expressive, opening with black cherry, plum and wild berries, followed by rose petal, graphite, spice and a faint earthy undertone. There is a lifted floral note that nods clearly to the Nebbiolo component.

The palate is medium to full bodied, with ripe dark fruit wrapped in fine, persistent tannins. Acidity is bright and integrated, giving shape and length. Flavours move from cherry and berry into savoury herbs and mineral tones, finishing long and structured. The texture is silky yet firm, balancing approachability with ageing potential.

It pairs beautifully with roast meats, pasta with ragù, mushroom dishes, lamb and aged cheeses. Drinking impressively now with air, it will cellar comfortably for eight to twelve years, gaining leather, spice and earthy complexity.

Sito Moresco is Gaja in a more relaxed register, but the pedigree is unmistakable, a wine that combines elegance, structure and modern finesse while still speaking clearly of Piedmont.
