Girlan Platt & Riegl Pinot Bianco from Alto Adige is a beautifully poised, mineral-driven white that showcases the clarity, freshness and structure for which this alpine region is renowned. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Cornaiano (Girlan), planted on a patchwork of volcanic and calcareous soils, this Pinot Bianco is elegant yet full of energy — a pure expression of variety and place.
The fruit is hand harvested and gently pressed, then fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant fruit character and crisp acidity. No oak is used, allowing the wine’s stony minerality and natural precision to shine through. The name Platt & Riegl refers to the vineyard sites, whose varied exposures and elevations contribute texture, aromatic lift and balance.
The nose opens with white peach, green apple, lemon peel, and a subtle floral note. The palate is dry and refined, with a silky texture wrapped around flavours of pear, citrus and a touch of almond. A firm acid line gives structure, and the finish is long, clean and lightly saline.
Food pairing: excellent with grilled trout, shellfish, asparagus risotto, fresh cheeses or fennel and citrus salad. Also a great match for gnocchi with butter and sage or a mild Thai curry.
Cellar potential: delicious now, but can develop beautifully over 5 to 7 years, gaining richness, nutty complexity and deeper mineral tones.
