A touch on the thinner side, this Riesling has nice acidity, which can carry through in the flavor or linger as expected. The profile is refreshing with some complexity. While pleasant, its finish is not as long.

Gustave Lorentz is one of Alsace’s historic family estates, founded in 1836 in the village of Bergheim and still family owned today. Over generations the Lorentz family has built a reputation for precision and site expression, farming many parcels organically and focusing on sustainable vineyard practices. The Lieu dit Burg comes from a specific hillside parcel below the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim, where limestone rich soils and sheltered exposure create Rieslings of depth and mineral drive. The philosophy is clarity and authenticity, allowing each site to show its own personality.

Harvest is timed to retain freshness and natural acidity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity, and ageing on fine lees builds subtle texture without softening the wine’s structure. There is no oak influence, keeping the focus on fruit, acidity and terroir expression.

Pale straw in colour, the aromas open with lime zest, green apple and white peach layered with jasmine, wet stone and a hint of citrus blossom. The palate is dry and finely structured, with bright acidity carrying flavours of lemon, grapefruit and crushed limestone. The finish is long and mineral, with a clean, mouthwatering edge.

It pairs beautifully with seafood, sushi, pork dishes and lightly spiced cuisine. Already vibrant and expressive, it will cellar confidently for ten to fifteen years, developing honeyed and petrol nuances while retaining its backbone.
