Morning fog drifting in from the Pacific gives Sonoma's Russian River Valley its magic, allowing Pinot Noir to ripen slowly while retaining lovely freshness. Founded in 1979, La Crema has become one of California's best known cool climate producers. Winemaker Craig McAllister works with vineyards across the region, where the combination of coastal influence and varied soils produces Pinot Noir with generous fruit and a distinctive savoury edge.
Bright ruby red with crimson highlights. Ripe cherry, wild raspberry and juicy plum mingle with rose petals, baking spice and a touch of forest floor. The 2023 vintage is supple and beautifully rounded, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a gentle suggestion of toasted oak. There's plenty of Californian charm here, balanced by the elegance that makes Russian River Pinot Noir so appealing.
A delicious companion to crispy pork belly with five spice, sesame crusted tuna with shiitake mushrooms, or roasted beetroot with whipped goat's cheese and walnuts.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2032. Particularly appealing over the next five years while its vibrant fruit remains centre stage.
