Dark, dense & plush Old Vine Cabernet with cellaring potential from vines planted 1959 to 1973
Old-vine cabernet sauvignon planted in 1959, '64 and '73; matured 24 months in French oak, 36% new. Ripe blackberry, blueberry and black cherry with hints of baking spices, anise, nutty oak, olive tapenade, roasting meats, meadow flowers and crushed rocks. Deep and plush in black fruits, with plenty of chew to the sandy tannins and a long crème-de-cassis flow on the exit. Drink to 2045.

Dark and inky red in the glass. Dark fruited aromas of blackberry, mulberry, spice, sweet oak and a lift of brambly leafiness. Dense, dark, mouth-filling and full-bodied, with a core of brooding black fruits, oak, firm, grippy tannins and some pingy acidity keeping all in check. Long, powerful and poised. Drink to 2040.

The 2023 Jackaman's Cabernet Sauvignon is leafy and fresh, with dried herbs, tapenade, cherry and cassis through the finish. The tannins are brambly and loosely knit, and the finish is long. This is very good. Drink to 2038.

The Jackaman’s vineyard was planted in the 1964 and originally farmed by Arthur Jackaman, a colourful Barossa-character, World War II paratrooper, boxer and butcher.
The 2023 vintage is a blend of Lyndoch and Vine Vale vineyards planted between 1959 and 1973. The wine was matured for two years in French oak hogsheads of which roughly a third were new.
About this producer
The Lindner family has been immersed in the Barossa’s farming community for six generations and are the custodians of what is believed to be the world’s oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard planted in 1843. Their commitment to quality is unwavering with the Langmeil name representing their family’s ongoing pursuit of excellence all aspects of viticulture and winemaking since 1996.
Like many in the region, the family is of Prussian heritage and settled in the village of Langmeil along the North Para River in 1838. The anti-German sentiment of the late-1910s saw many place names with German origins changed, with Langmeil becoming Bilyara. The locality is now part of the present-day Tanunda.
