2023 Langmeil Valley Floor Shiraz, Barossa Valley

Sourced from a patchwork of old Barossa vineyards rooted in the valley floor, this Shiraz captures the plush generosity that made the region famous while keeping a modern sense of balance. Langmeil has deep historical ties to the Barossa, farming vines that trace back to the nineteenth century, and the Valley Floor label is built as a tribute to that heritage. Warm days ripen the fruit fully, while careful site selection preserves enough freshness to stop the wine from tipping into excess. The aim is classic Barossa richness shaped with polish.

Winemaking focuses on fruit depth and structure. Fermentation extracts dense colour and flavour, and maturation in oak adds spice and frame without overwhelming the varietal core. The style is full and mouth filling, designed to deliver immediate pleasure while still rewarding cellaring.

Deep crimson in colour, the aromas open with blackberry, plum and dark cherry layered with chocolate, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is full bodied and velvety, with dark fruit wrapped in ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Flavours of black berry, mocha and savoury notes flow into a long, smooth finish.

It pairs beautifully with grilled steak, lamb and slow cooked meats. Drinking impressively now, it will cellar comfortably for ten to twelve years, developing earthy complexity.
