Lark Hill sits at 860 metres on the Lake George escarpment above Bungendore, one of the highest and coolest vineyard sites in the Canberra District. The Carpenter family has farmed it biodynamically since 2008, with no synthetic inputs, wild yeast fermentation, minimal intervention in the winery. The Chardonnay comes from vines planted in 1978 on shallow shale over clay, low-yielding and unhurried in ripening. The result is a Chardonnay with a distinctly cool-climate character — lean, precise and mineral rather than rich or generous. Citrus and stone fruit on the nose with a restrained oak influence and a fine line of acidity that carries the wine to a clean, focused finish.
Grilled scallops, a light fish dish with lemon butter, steamed barramundi with ginger and shallots or soft fresh cheese.
Vegan friendly. Drink now through 2028.
