From the elevated vineyards above the Côte de Nuits comes a refined and quietly serious expression of Pinot Noir shaped by Laurent Roumier’s traditional touch. Laurent Roumier, nephew of Christophe Roumier, works his family parcels with a focus on low yields, careful vineyard management and restrained oak to preserve clarity and terroir expression. The Hautes Côtes de Nuits sits at higher altitude than the main slope, where cooler temperatures and limestone rich soils produce wines of freshness, aromatic lift and fine structure. This regional bottling captures that cooler climate precision while still delivering the depth expected from a respected Burgundian name.
Bright ruby in the glass with youthful crimson highlights, the nose is lifted and inviting. Red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry lead, followed by rose petal, white pepper and a gentle earthy undertone. A subtle mineral edge reflects the limestone soils and higher elevation origins.
On the palate it is medium bodied, energetic and finely structured. Juicy red fruits glide across supple tannins and vibrant acidity, giving both charm and backbone. Hints of clove, dried herbs and discreet oak add texture and nuance without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is long and savoury, balancing freshness with gentle complexity.
Serve with roast chicken, grilled duck, charcuterie or mushroom dishes with thyme. It is highly enjoyable in its youth for its brightness and perfume, yet will cellar comfortably for eight to twelve years, gaining further savoury depth and silky integration over time.
