This excellent Burgundian pinot noir marries meaty and savory character with fine sour-cherry and red-berry fruit. The velvety tannins build nicely in the very bright finish, already balanced in spite of a touch of firmness. From 5 hectares of vines. Drinkable now but best from 2026.

Aloxe Corton sits at the foot of the famous Corton hill, producing Pinot Noir with more structure and earthy depth than many neighbouring villages. Louis Latour knows this landscape better than almost anyone. The family has been rooted here since 1797, with extensive vineyard holdings around Corton forming the backbone of the estate. Domaine Latour bottlings come from the family’s own vineyards, offering a more intimate expression of Burgundy’s terroir and history.
The 2023 vintage is vibrant and beautifully balanced, showing the freshness and charm that make young Burgundy so irresistible. Bright cherry, wild raspberry and red plum notes are layered with hints of violets, forest floor and gentle spice. There is a lovely savoury edge beginning to emerge beneath the fruit, bringing notes of dried herbs, cedar and earthy minerality. The tannins are fine and polished, giving the wine enough structure to age while remaining approachable in its youth. It feels energetic rather than heavy, with a clean, persistent finish that keeps pulling you back for another sip.
This is the sort of Burgundy that thrives at the table. Roast chicken with thyme and garlic would be superb, though it would also pair beautifully with duck pâté, mushroom tart or crispy pork belly with cherry glaze. As the wine opens in the glass, more floral and earthy nuances begin to appear, making it a rewarding bottle to follow over the course of a relaxed evening. Delicious now with a short decant, though it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 8 to 10 years.
