Fermentation in open pots with 100% whole berries, matured for nine months in French puncheons and barriques (25% new). A very bright crimson. I gave this a few good swirls, which released an impressive bouquet featuring black cherries, incense and a little underbrush. Fleshy with lovely inner-mouth feel, the palate is rounded out by its svelte, pliant tannins. It's good now but will be even better in the next two to four years. It's great, too, to see the number of delicious under $40 pinots being produced in the Yarra these days.

100% handpicked from Mandala's premium Pinot Noir vineyards in Yarra Junction and the Dixon's Creek vineyard. 100% French oak; 25% new.
A bright and complex aromatic profile displaying notes of pomegranate, dried strawberry and star anise with hints of blue fruit, crushed violet, fresh tobacco and truffle. A finely structured palate offers textural generosity with notes of red currant and dark cherry integrating well with supportive oak spice. Refreshing natural acidity gives the wine drive and line leading into a long and persistent finish.
