A richer rendition this vintage yet certainly not a weighty wine, just lots of flavour. Stone fruit, apple puree and baking spices with cedary oak in the mix. A creamy texture across the fuller-bodied palate and yet there’s refreshing and super-tight acidity with a little phenolic grip giving this a smooth edge.

The Merricks Estate Chardonnay from the Mornington Peninsula is a refined and vibrant expression of cool-climate Australian winemaking. Established in 1978, Merricks Estate is one of the pioneering wineries in the region, known for its dedication to producing elegant wines that reflect the terroir's maritime influence and exceptional growing conditions.

The Mornington Peninsula’s proximity to Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait provides a cool, temperate climate that allows Chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly, developing intense flavors while retaining refreshing acidity. The well-drained soils and meticulous vineyard management further enhance the quality of the fruit.

Crafted using traditional winemaking techniques, the Merricks Estate Chardonnay undergoes fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation and aging on fine lees add complexity, texture, and depth to the wine, while preserving its vibrant fruit profile.

On the nose, the wine displays aromas of white peach, citrus, and green apple, intertwined with subtle notes of toasted almond, vanilla, and a hint of flint. The palate is elegantly structured, with a creamy texture balanced by crisp acidity, offering flavors of ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, and a touch of minerality. The finish is long and refreshing, showcasing the wine’s impeccable balance and sophistication.

This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with dishes such as grilled seafood, roast chicken, or creamy pasta, making it a versatile choice for various culinary occasions. While approachable upon release, it can also be cellared for 5-7 years, allowing its complexity to evolve further.
