Organic single-vineyard Chardonnay, spicy and flinty with long, complex layers of ripe orchard fruit and spice
A certified-organic single-vineyard chardonnay from the Queensbury subregion. Light straw in the glass with aromas of green apple, white nectarine, peach and grapefruit, along with hints of spiced oatmeal, struck flint, crème fraîche, meadow flowers, crushed minerals, grilled nuts, vanillin oak, biscuity oak, clotted cream and a wisp of struck match. Complex and layered with spice and flint tendrils swirling through the ripe fruit, acidity keeping everything in check and providing ample drive and clarity. The flavours show plenty of sustain at the back end. Drink to 2034.

Rich, weighty chardonnay that nicely balances fruit and alcohol sweetness against gently tangy acidity. The result is a deliciously accessible wine that offers good drinking now but promises to develop well with bottle age. Drink to 2031.

Nanny Goat Queensberry Chardonnay from Central Otago, New Zealand, is a stunning example of the region's ability to produce exceptional white wines. Central Otago, known for its cool climate and dramatic landscapes, has long been celebrated for its Pinot Noir, but it is increasingly making a name for itself with world-class Chardonnays, and Nanny Goat’s Queensberry Chardonnay is no exception. The wine is crafted by winemaker and vineyard owner, Derek Milne, who brings years of expertise and passion for the land to every bottle.
Derek Milne and his team at Nanny Goat work closely with the vineyards to ensure that the fruit is in optimal condition before being carefully harvested. The vineyard, located in the renowned Queensberry sub-region of Central Otago, benefits from a unique terroir that combines steep slopes, cooler temperatures, and long sunshine hours during the growing season. The Queensberry Chardonnay is a reflection of this exceptional environment, showcasing the purity and intensity of Central Otago’s fruit.
In the glass, the Nanny Goat Queensberry Chardonnay has a brilliant, pale gold color, with a slight green hue that hints at the freshness and vibrancy of the wine. The nose is fresh and inviting, with aromas of citrus, green apple, and ripe pear, balanced by subtle hints of oak and lightly toasted almonds. There’s also a touch of flint and wet stone, characteristic of the region's mineral-driven wines, adding complexity and depth to the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a bright, crisp acidity that gives it a refreshing quality. Flavors of lemon zest, green apple, and a hint of pineapple mingle with nuances of vanilla and a soft creaminess from the wine’s time spent in oak. The wine’s minerality comes through in the mid-palate, providing a structured backbone that carries the fresh fruit flavors into a long, clean finish. The subtle use of oak adds depth and texture without overpowering the fruit, making this Chardonnay beautifully balanced and elegant.
Nanny Goat Queensberry Chardonnay is a versatile wine that pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. Its freshness and minerality make it ideal for seafood, particularly oysters and shellfish, as well as grilled chicken or roasted vegetables.
