Firmly herbaceous, with slightly astringent edges to the very taut palate of green apple and cut grass. The finish is almost peppery, with a firm phenolic grip around the resonous acidity. A severe expression which will soften in the coming year 14 Feb 2025 Drink 2026–2027

Amisfield Sauvignon Blanc from Central Otago is a vibrant, finely textured white that breaks away from the typical New Zealand Sauvignon style—offering depth, minerality, and elegance over overt tropical fruit. Grown on Amisfield’s organically farmed estate vineyard in Pisa, this wine reflects the cool climate and schist-laced soils of Central Otago, delivering lifted aromatics and crisp, mouthwatering precision.
Central Otago may be best known for Pinot Noir, but its high-altitude sites and long growing season also produce Sauvignon Blanc with incredible purity and structure. The fruit is hand harvested, gently pressed, and fermented mostly in stainless steel, with a small portion undergoing fermentation in seasoned French oak barrels. This approach, led by winemaker Greg Lane, adds subtle texture and complexity while maintaining freshness and varietal clarity.
In the glass, Amisfield Sauvignon Blanc reveals aromas of lime blossom, white peach, gooseberry, and crushed herbs, underpinned by a stony, almost saline character. The palate is dry, energetic, and focused—zesty citrus and green apple flavours glide across a taut acid line, with just a touch of creaminess from time on lees. The finish is long and mineral, leaving a refreshing snap that calls you back for more.
This is a Sauvignon Blanc with restraint and refinement—perfect for lovers of crisp, cool-climate whites. It pairs effortlessly with fresh seafood, goat cheese, or summer salads.
