This medium-bodied red has aromas of mulberries, bay leaves and a hint of licorice. It’s focused on the palate with lightly chalky tannins. Finely structured and very approachable. Drink or hold.

The Pierre-Marie Chermette Brouilly Pierreux is a vibrant and characterful cru Beaujolais that reflects both the generosity of Brouilly and the precision of one of the region’s finest winemakers. Pierre-Marie Chermette, of Domaine du Vissoux, is celebrated for his minimal-intervention approach, letting Gamay speak with clarity and energy. The Pierreux vineyard, lying at the foot of the Brouilly hill on granite and schist soils, produces wines of aromatic lift, supple fruit and mineral depth, making it a standout site within the cru.
In the glass it is a deep ruby with purple highlights. The bouquet is expressive and perfumed, offering red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry alongside floral notes, liquorice and a touch of spice. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with juicy red fruits supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity. Mineral and savoury undertones provide complexity, while the finish is long, lively and elegant, showcasing both charm and structure.
Food pairings suit its supple and versatile style: charcuterie, roast chicken, duck breast with cherries, grilled salmon, or vegetarian dishes such as mushroom risotto and roasted Mediterranean vegetables. It also pairs beautifully with semi-soft cheeses like Saint-Nectaire or Tomme de Savoie. Best enjoyed young for its brightness, it will also cellar for 6 to 8 years, developing earthy, truffle and dried floral nuances.
