It has taken little more than a blink of a viticultural eye for Mornington Peninsula to establish itself as one of the country’s top regions to grow Pinot Gris. A lovely pale yellow, this is a refined style of Pinot Gris with its absolutely gorgeous texture the real highlight. There are notes of peaches and pears on the nose, and hints of oatmeal emerging on the palate. This is a seriously impressive Pinot Gris with very good length and some early complexity evident. Four to six years.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from a neighbouring vineyard in Balnarring. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermentation commenced spontaneously with ambient yeasts in entirely old French oak barriques. Once dry, the wine was left sur lie for several months prior to bottling. The wine was bottled without fining and with minimal filtration. A lively bouquet delivers an interesting mix of aromas of pink lady apples and spicier notes of musk and Turkish delight. The palate shows flavours of fresh white pear and apple juice that combine with a layered and textural mid-palate that is underpinned by spicy phenolics
