Complex and layered with perhaps a little more chew to the tannin profile than the Angel Flower. A luminous ruby garnet hue shimmers in the glass. Aromas rise slowly with dark cherry, wild thyme and plum layered alongside rose petal, subtle spice and a gentle smoky mineral nuance that hints at the wine’s name. There is a haunting sense of place here. The palate is finely composed and medium to full bodied, red and dark berry fruits gliding across silky tannins with notes of rhubarb, clove and crushed stone adding dimension. Bright acidity provides tension and drive, leading into a long, savoury finish that lingers with earthy and floral detail.
